Fresno State President Joseph I. Castro and wife Mary will host a fundraiser for the new University Migrant Services (UMS) Mentor Fund at Fresno State to help AB540 students from the Central Valley. It will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30 at the University House (4411 N. Van Ness Blvd.). Tickets are $50 per person. Tables and sponsorships are available. The event also will provide the program’s students the opportunity to meet community role models. AB540 refers to the California law that permits undocumented students who meet certain requirements to attend public-funded universities as in-state residents and not pay out-of-state tuition.
