Imelda Santacruz-Dudley, student success counselor for the Commitment to Latina/o Academic Success & Excellence (CLASE) Program at Fresno State, has been named to the 2014 class of E. Kika De La Garza Fellows, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced this week. She is a Fresno State alumna from Madera and is among 15 fellows who are staff and faculty at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) throughout the nation. The fellows were selected in three classes based on the compatibility of their interests with USDA mission areas, as well as the value their experiences will add to their institutions’ educational capacities. Fellows spend two to four weeks in Washington, D.C. to increase their understanding of USDA and other federal agencies, particularly at the national level, and to be able to identify mutual collaborative interests.
