143148Michelle Ganci, lecturer in the Fresno State Department of Animal Sciences and Agricultural Education in the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, was named the national director of the Humane Heartland program through the American Humane Certified farm animal welfare program. As director, Ganci will implement science-based standards and third-party auditing to ensure the nearly one billion animals on American farms and ranches are provided with sufficient, proper and healthful living conditions. Ganci was instrumental in the development of the new poultry research facility, partnered with Foster Farms. The facility was the first to be certified by the American Humane Association.
