justin-kamimotoFresno State junior Justin Kamimoto of Clovis will be presented the Youth in Philanthropy Award at the Association of Fundraising Professionals California Chapter’s National Philanthropy Day at noon Nov. 6 at Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in downtown Fresno (1055 Van Ness Ave.). In 2013, Kamimoto established Fresno’s MEAL (Meals Engaging All Lives) to serve meals to homeless people. In the past year, he and a team of volunteers have raised the funds to prepare and serve more than 1,000 meals.

“Our core competency that sets Fresno’s MEAL apart from other organizations is that we bring the meals to the people, as opposed to requiring the people to come to us,” Kamimoto said. “It’s a more challenging and time-consuming business model, but it’s also proven to be more effective in fulfilling our mission.”

A four-time Bulldog Pride Fund scholar, Kamimoto is studying leadership and development of community benefit organizations, as well as humanics. He is the social media intern for the Fresno State Alumni Association. INFO: Peter Robertson at 559.278.4669. Tickets to the National Philanthropy Day luncheon are $50 and available by calling 559.549.7237.
