Dr. Sarah Tyson, assistant professor of philosophy at the University of Colorado at Denver, will lead the discussion, “Can we be Safe — Sex, Crime and Safety,” from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13 in the Alice Peters Auditorium at Fresno State as part of the fall 2014 Leon S. Peters Ethics Lecture Series. The free, public talk will explore why sex offender registries have given way to residency restrictions for people convicted of sex crimes and why such restrictions fail. Tyson is co-editor of “Philosophy Imprisoned: The Love of Wisdom in the Age of Mass Incarceration.” The event is sponsored by the Ethics Center at Fresno State with support from the Leon S. Peters Foundation. INFO/parking code559.278.2124. See original press release.
