Fresno State CineCulture and Filmworks will present a screening of “Levitated Mass” at 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 at the Tower Theatre. The film re-ignites the centuries-old debate of “what is art?”’ through the story of a 340-ton granite boulder moved from a quarry in Riverside to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, then mounted atop the walls of a gigantic slot in the earth. During the film, the creator of the land sculpture, Michael Heizer, references the expanse of art history, from ancient traditions of megalithic stones to modern forms of abstract and cutting-edge features of engineering. After the 5:30 p.m. show, filmmaker Katie McNeill will host a discussion circle about the film. Tickets are $10 for general public and $8 for students and seniors and are available by check or cash at the Tower Theatre box office (815 E. Olive Ave.).INFO: Dr. Mary Husain at mhusain@csufresno.edu.
