International Yoga Day will be observed at Fresno State from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, June 20, in the North Gym (Room 118) with the Hon. Narendra Modi, prime minister of India.

The free, public event will also feature yoga classes and demonstrations by area teachers, meditation by Dr. Veena Kapoor of the Raja Yoga Meditation Center in Fresno and a presentation on the importance of yoga.

Dr. Jody Hironaka-Juteau, dean of the College of Health and Human Services at Fresno State, will deliver opening remarks. Michael Downing from Yoga for Living will serve as master of ceremonies.

The event is co-sponsored by the Consulate General of India in San Francisco, the Council of Indian Organizations of the Central Valley and Fresno State’s Peace and Conflict Studies Program.
