(September 2, 2015) — The 240-member Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band will be spreading Bulldog spirit on Thursday, Sept. 3 as the Bulldogs kick off college football season at 7 p.m. vs. Abilene Christian at Bulldog Stadium. The forecast for kickoff is 82 degrees.

Fans will notice some new concession items for sale, including student-produced, all-beef hot dogs. The quarter-pound, eight-inch hot dogs are also available at the Gibson Farm Market.

“We’re proud to be able to partner with Pardini’s to be able to give our fans a true Bulldog-inspired hot dog at our games,” said Dr. John Henson, Fresno State meat science professor and unit manager. “Our students spent a year doing research and development with different spice combinations and processing techniques to perfect the best-tasting, juiciest and most tender product possible.”

Adding to the game day experience is the installation of a new video board standing 24 feet tall and 66 feet wide, hospitality areas, fan-friendly tailgating changes, skydivers and improved concessions.

As academics and athletics rise together at Fresno State, the faculty member of the game, music professor Dr. Miles Ishigaki, will be honored.

Fans are advised to arrive early and be aware of traffic and parking conditions beginning at 3 p.m., when several streets will be closed to two-way traffic.

Barstow Avenue will be one-way only (westbound) between Woodrow and Cedar avenues. Woodrow Avenue will be closed to southbound traffic between Barstow Avenue and Shaw Avenue. (See full advisory at bit.ly/FSN-GameTraffic090315).

About 5 p.m., the Bulldog Marching Band begins its parade from the Music Building to tailgate performances in the Red and White lots at 5:30 pm. The pre-game show in the stadium begins about 6:30 p.m.

McKeithen-Band crpUnder the second year direction of Steven McKeithen, director of athletic bands, the halftime performance will feature a summer mix tape show with themes that embrace the hot valley sun: House of the Rising Sun, Soak Up the Sun and Walkin’ on Sunshine.

“We’re looking forward to supporting Fresno State athletics at all home games, on the road in San Diego, at home volleyball games and basketball later this season,” said McKeithen, who also directs the Symphonic Band, the Bulldog Basketball Band and the Bulldog Beat.

Once inside the stadium, fans can also find campus-made pints of Fresno State vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and cookies and cream ice cream at concession stands at all home football games.

Proceeds from the hot dogs and ice cream support Fresno State’s Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology.

“Check the Tags”
