The Department of Communication will hold a memorial service for professor emeritus Dr. George Diestel from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, in the University Dining Hall at Fresno State. Diestel passed away in November after a long battle with lung cancer. His area of scholarly interest and teaching included rhetorical and communication theory, freedom of speech, leadership, Holocaust studies and more. Dr. Douglas Fraleigh, chair of the Department of Communication invites “those whose lives he touched to pay their respects while we celebrate the life of one of the true champions of justice in our community.” The department will provide light refreshments.
