The first annual “Fiesta for Elders” fundraiser benefitting Elder Abuse Services, Inc. of Fresno and Madera Counties will be held from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at LoMac Winery (2674 N. Westlawn Ave.). Guest speaker for the event will be Lisa Nerenberg, executive director of the California Elder Justice Coalition. Elder Abuse Services Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides community education programs on elder abuse. Fresno State criminology students have completed internships with the organization, which includes a 20-hour elder abuse training course. The statewide-alliance promotes policy and practice that improves the lives of vulnerable and abused adults across the state. The evening will also include Fresno State’s Mexican folkloric dance troupe Los Danzantes de Aztlán, music, winetasting, a dinner and a silent auction.
