Alex Padilla, California Secretary of State (right), dropped by the campus recently to support Fresno State’s ongoing voter registration drive. He was greeted by First Lady Mary Castro and Pres. Joseph Castro.

A voter registration drive will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, west of the Memorial Fountain by the Taco Bell to register college students, faculty and staff prior to the May 23 deadline.

It’s part of a statewide campaign by Secretary of State Alex Padilla, who visited campus last month, to inform California citizens of the upcoming state primary elections Tuesday, June 7 (polls open 7 a.m.-8 p.m.).

The campus drive is organized by Maddy Institute deputy director Ana Jovel Melendez, president-elect of Associated Students, Inc. Timothy Ryan, political science professor Lisa Bryant and Executive Director of Governmental Relations Larry Salinas.

Registration is also available online at http://registertovote.ca.gov/. The vote-by-mail ballot mailing period begins today (May 9) and closes May 31. Any new citizen sworn in after May 23 may register to vote May 24 – June 7.

The last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot is May 31 with completed mail ballots postmarked no later than June 7 in order to be received by Friday, June 10.
