Free tours of the Gary Soto Literary Museum at Fresno City College will be offered by the acclaimed author at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4.
The museum, located on the first floor (west wing) of the Old Administration Building, opened in 2011 and features a collection of the works by Fresno State alumnus Gary Soto.
The writer of books for children and young adults is a Fresno-born Chicano raised in the Central Valley whose many awards include the Hispanic Heritage Award for Literature, the Author-Illustrator Civil Rights Award and the American Book Award. His second collection of poems, “The Tale of Sunlight,” was nominated for the 1978 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry.
The 1974 graduate (B.A. in English) earned the Top Outstanding Alumnus Award from the Fresno State Alumni Association in 2004 on behalf of the College of Arts and Humanities.
