A memorial service for Dr. Keith Harris Woodwick, Fresno State biology professor emeritus, will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at the Smittcamp Alumni House on campus (2625 E. Matoian Way). Woodwick, whose career at Fresno State spanned over 40 years, died Nov. 1. He was 89 years old. He was the father of Dr. Colleen Torgerson, professor in the Department of Literacy, Early, Bilingual, & Special Education and her husband, Dr. Paul Beare, dean of the Kremen School of Education and Human Development. Dr. Woodwick joined the Department of Biology faculty in 1955 and his expertise was primarily in marine invertebrate zoology. He was one of the founding members and chairperson of the Moss Landing Marine Laboratories and was honored as Fresno State’s Outstanding Professor in 1987. Remembrances to Woodwick can be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Ocean Conservancy organization. In addition to Prof. Torgerson, he is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty, son Kevin, and daughter Kelli. See university notice.
