Fresno State plant science professor Dr. David Goorahoo and four Fresno State students received awards and all-expense trips from the Irrigation Foundation to attend the 2016 Irrigation Show and Education Conference from Dec. 5 to 9 in Las Vegas. Graduate students Arthish Bhaskar of Chennai, India and Anthony Mele of Clovis, and senior Jose Omar Carrillo of Firebaugh and junior Pierce Hanning of Atwater were chosen as Irrigation Exposure, Experience and Education (E3) program honorees. They were selected based on their interest in irrigation-related careers and participated in classes, industry sessions and networking events. Goorahoo was selected as an Irrigation E3 leader from a group of North American irrigation science-related faculty. The campus Center for Irrigation Technology provided funding for recent graduate and research assistant Janet Robles and plant science senior Jordan Ellis of Oakhurst to also attend the industry’s largest annual conference in the world.
