Two Fresno State media, communications and journalism students are finalists in the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System’s Golden Microphone awards that will be announced March 4 at the 77th international conference in New York. Edmer Archila, of Mendota, and Brittany Sosa, of Fresno, are finalists for Best Public Affairs Program for the Fresno State Focus Radio Edition newscast they co-hosted Oct. 8. Fresno State Focus Radio Edition is a public affairs program produced by students as part of their radio reporting class. Archila is a finalist for Best Community News for his story on farmworker food insecurity that first aired Oct. 22. Fresno State Focus Radio Edition airs on 90.7 KFSR, Fresno State’s non-profit, listener-supported public radio station. The program hosts and reporters are students in the MCJ 177T Radio Reporting course.
