Former gang member Gabriel Hernandez will share his story of gang involvement, drug use and incarceration at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, in the North Gym (Room 118) at Fresno State. Hernandez turned his life around in prison following a faith experience. He has since worked closely with urban community organizations mentoring youth who are categorized as at-risk, incarcerated, gang members or products of broken family structures. Born and raised in Fresno, he moved to Colorado with his wife but continues to work with multiple organizations and speaks nationally about his life in the hopes of strengthening and encouraging others. Project Rebound, a support program for formerly incarcerated students, is co-sponsoring the event with Alpha Phi Sigma. Representatives from the National Criminal Justice Honor Society will also be in attendance. INFO: Criminology Department at 559.278.2305.
