The Henry Madden Library at Fresno State continues the eighth season of its Noontime Concert Series with a free, public performance by the Fresno State Guitar Orchestra at 12:10 p.m. FridayApril 28, in the Table Mountain Rancheria Reading Room. The University guitar orchestra was founded in 1976 by Dr. Thomas Gabe and continued under the direction of Professor Emeritus Juan Serrano from 1983 to 2006. Dr. Corey Whitehead became co-director of the group from 2003 to 2006 until Serrano’s retirement when he was named director and has led the group since, including serving as is the artistic director and coordinator for the Noontime Concert Series. Friday’s program features two large works, the “Fugue BWV 541” by J.S. Bach, and “Don Quijote” by Georg Philipp Telemann. The event is co-hosted by the College of Arts and Humanities.
