A California Raisin Day celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at Fresno State’s Rue and Gwen Gibson Farm Market (5368 N. Chestnut Ave). Visitors can sample natural and chocolate-covered raisins, receive 15 percent off raisin purchases and enter a gift basket raffle. Kids can meet and take photos with the Dancing Raisin from noon to 2 p.m. The farm market sells six varieties of raisins grown on campus that include Autumn Royal, Flame, Princess, Scarlet Royal, Selma Peet and Sweet Scarlet. The event is a collaboration of the April 30 observance with the California Raisin Marketing Board, which supports and promotes consumer nutrition education, crop production and market research. California produces all of the raisins in the United States within a 60-mile radius of Fresno, and two-thirds of its harvest is shipped to 50 countries around the world INFO: Gibson Farm Market, 559.278.4511; California Raisin Board, Melinda McAllister, Melinda@raisins.org, www.LoveYourRaisins.com. #NationalRaisinDay.
