Fresno State will host two eclipse viewing events  Monday, Aug. 21. The first is a live stream viewing from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Fresno State Madden Library first floor, North Wing. The second event presented by Lyles College of Engineering will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the foyer of the Engineering East building A partial eclipse begins at 9:03 a.m. with the maximum eclipse at 10:19 a.m. Victor E. Bulldog III will join from 10 to 11 a.m. for photos with the engineering and construction management students. While it is open to the public, students get first chance at the 100 pair of official NASA viewing glasses that will be available. “The Sundogs,” Lyles College of Engineering’s solar and renewable energy club will be in attendance. The party is in celebration of FresWOW Welcome Week at Fresno State. In the spirit of the solar eclipse, Lyles College students will receive Sunkist soda, Sun Chips, Moon Pies and Eclipse Gum. NOTE: Downing Planetarium, which will not be open Aug. 21, has run out of viewing glasses it was selling but has provided instructions to make them at bit.ly/FS-SolarEclipseGlasses.
