Per a proclamation signed by President Donald J. Trump, Fresno State’s national and state flags will fly at half-staff until sunset on Sunday, Sept. 2, the day of funeral services for Sen. John McCain, who died from brain cancer on Aug. 25 at 81 years old. McCain — a two-time presidential candidate, six-term senator and Vietnam War hero — will lie in state at the Arizona State Capitol on Wednesday. McCain’s body will lie in state at the U.S. Capitol on Friday. On Saturday, his body will be taken to the National Cathedral, after a stop at the Vietnam War Memorial, where his widow, Cindy, will place a wreath. He will be buried at the U.S. Naval Academy in a private ceremony on Sunday.
