University flags at half-staff July 18 in honor of Alfonso Gonzalez

Fresno State’s national and state flags are posted at half-staff on Thursday, July 18, the date of the funeral mass for Alfonso Gonzalez, an alumnus, former instructor and friend of the University. Mr. Gonzalez, who graduated from the Craig School of Business in 1957, died on July 10 at the age of 90. A former instructor who taught tax accounting courses, Mr. Gonzalez served in the Korean conflict as an Army auditor.

A supporter of the University who believed that education was a great leveler, Mr. Gonzalez established a $125,000 endowment to benefit Craig School students. Mr. Gonzalez’ funeral mass was be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 18, at Our Lady of Victory Church in Fresno, 2838 N. West Ave.
