CineCulture screens classic Chicano film ‘The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez’

CineCulture will hold a free screening of the classic film “The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez” at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, in the Peters Education Center Auditorium next to the Save Mart Center in the Student Recreation Center Building. Fresno State professors Dr. Robert Maldonado and Dr. Adán Ávalos will lead a discussion following the screening. After a heated misunderstanding leading to the death of one of their own, Mexican American farmer Gregorio Cortez is forced to flee from Texas rangers and evades a massive manhunt on horseback.

Parking is free after 4 p.m. on Fridays with no permit necessary in lots P3 or P2. The screening is sponsored by the Center for Creativity and the Arts and Arte Américas.
