The Fresno State Department of Music will celebrate the rich diversity of music with two guitar festival 2019 concerts. The first opens with rock band “Fall oF Silence,” featuring Tony Franklin on the bass, ahead of jazz bassist Tony Saunders and featuring drummer Alvin Taylor.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Wahlberg Recital Hall (Music 183); tickets are $15 general and $5 for students, seniors and staff. The second recital will feature Corey Whitehead, Fresno State professor of music, as he performs flamenco classics “El Colibrí” by Julio Salvador Sagreras, “Themes from the Godfather” by Rota and more at 8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, in the Wahlberg Recital Hall. Tickets are $5.

For guitar players looking to broaden their skills, the guitar festival will feature two free masterclasses by Tony Saunders and Tony Franklin at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, on Oct. 18 in the Wahlberg Recital Hall. Parking is $5 before 1 p.m. on Friday in lot P1. Parking is free on Friday after 1 p.m. with printable parking pass. Parking is free on Saturday in lot P31 or P1.
