Officials at California State University, Fresno have announced they will handle traffic and parking for this week’s Billy Graham Central Valley Crusade much as they do for football games at Bulldog Stadium.

Tom Kane, Fresno State’s events/projects coordinator and athletic facilities manager, said police officers and parking attendants will control traffic flow on and around the campus for the events Thursday through Sunday.

Parking lots around Bulldog Stadium will charge $6 per car. All lots on the campus and the unpaved area at Shaw and Woodrow that is the future home of the Save Mart Center will be available, also at $6 per car. The only exception is Thursday night when classes are in session at Fresno State. Individuals who park on campus that night should buy a one-day parking pass for $1.50 from the machines at each entrance to the university.

In addition to campus lots, Fresno State attendants will be supervising parking at Hoover High School and at two businesses at Shaw and Ninth Street. Parking will be $6 in those lots.

Parking for buses (by advancement arrangements) will be on the grass east of the Bulldog Diamond softball field.

No parking will be allowed in the following areas:

Curbs adjacent to the stadium

University Portals housing development north of Bulldog Stadium

Bulldog Lane between Cedar and Sixth

East side of Ninth between Bulldog Lane and Shaw

Sixth between Bulldog Lane to Shaw

San Jose between Sixth and First

Shoulders on Chestnut between Bullard and Shaw

Barstow between Cedar and Willow

Parking lots will be open four hours prior to the start of each event. Stadium gates will open two hours before the event.

Extra law enforcement officers will be on duty for the events, said University Police Sgt. Dave Jensen. Assisting campus police will be officers from Fresno, Clovis and Kingsburg police departments, Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol.

Increased security measures recently instituted for athletic events will be followed for the Crusade. No backpacks, duffel bags, ice chests, large containers or food items will be allowed. Purses, small handbags and thermoses will be searched at the entrances.
