Two Clovis West High School students who had winning projects at the 53rd annual Central California Regional Science, Mathematics and Engineering Fair have been offered scholarships for $2,000 to attend California State University, Fresno when they finish high school.

The scholarship offers were made by Fresno State President John D. Welty. The university has made such offers to Science Fair winners for the past two decades. The students were selected for their excellence in hypothesis testing, independence, innovation and possessing a greater understanding of the significance of their projects relative to known information.

The students, the categories and their projects are:

Nilesh Tripuraneni, whose project was titled “Unification of Hydrogen Generation Processes: A Model Derived from Mother Nature.”

Raj Amin, whose project was titled “Detecting the prevalence of Chlymidia Pneumoniae in the Valley Population by development of a real time PCR technique.”

In addition, the Biology Department awarded textbooks as prizes to outstanding efforts in the biological sciences to the following students: Ryan Bigger, Edison High School; Ashley Mujrheid, Andrea Bennett, Rena Banka, Sarah Abuelreich, Radwa Salem, Sukhee Basetti, Namitha Malakkla, Danielle Mooshagian and Lacey Stevenson, Clovis West; Darrick Gowens, Immanuel; Christine Calabio, Priyanka Adapa and Sabreena Rana, Buchanan; Shelby Hawkins, Kingsburg; Krista Owens and Christine Haas, Clovis East; and Barbara Shinaver, Sanger High.
