Faculty and staff at California State University, Fresno are being encouraged to ride bicycles to work on Thursday, May 17. It’s a suggestion that is intended to promote health and clean air and to compete with other employers in Fresno County’s second annual Bike to Work Day Corporate Challenge.

The event, which is a part of the Fresno County Bicycle Coalition’s Bike to Work Week beginning Monday, Monday 14, is intended to promote bike commuting as a viable transportation alternative in the Fresno-Clovis area. The Bike to Work Corporate Challenge encourages individuals to leave their cars at home for the day, which will promote more-active lifestyles, reducing traffic congestion and keeping the community healthy.

Bike commuter teams will compete for prizes and all registered individuals will be eligible for the commuter bike raffle and other prizes. The corporate challenge winners will be based on the number of riders and total miles ridden.

Participation in the event is free. For more information, call 559.906.1491 or visit www.fresnobike.org for details and to register online.
