Fresno State will host the inaugural Bulldog Invitational Collegiate Bowling tournament this weekend (Dec. 1-2) with at least 12 teams from California, Nevada and Arizona. It will be held at Cedar Lanes, 3131 N. Cedar Ave., beginning at noon on Saturday.

The tournament, which is sanctioned by the United States Bowling Congress, is open to all colleges whose team members are enrolled as full-time college students.

“This is a great opportunity for the community to get out and support our Fresno State bowling team and to see them compete against different schools,” said Patricia Thomason, manager of the University Student Union’s Recreational Center, which includes a Bowling Center. “It is not very often that a collegiate tournament comes here.”

Both the men’s and women’s programs will be in action. The men’s program has enjoyed a strong start to the season with wins at the High Sierra Collegiate Classic in Reno, the West Coast Team Championships at UC Davis and the Southern California Open in Camarillo.
