Dr. Thomas Loewenheim, an assistant professor of music at California State University, Fresno, conducts the Fresno Youth Philharmonic orchestra’s 2007-08 season finale at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 1 at the William Saroyan Theatre in downtown Fresno.

The Fresno Youth Philharmonic is the premier orchestra of Youth Orchestras of Fresno, which is composed of musicians 12 to 20 years old who represent schools and colleges from throughout the central San Joaquin Valley.

Sunday’s program will include Shostakovich’s “Symphony No. 5,” Brahms’ “Symphony No. 3” and Wagner’s “Overture to the Flying Dutchman.”

Dr. Loewenheim is head of strings, professor of cello and conductor of the University Orchestra at Fresno State in addition to his leadership of the community youth ensemble.

Advance tickets for Sunday’s concert are $12 (adults) and $8 (seniors/students). At the door, tickets cost $15 and $10. Children 8 and younger are admitted free.
