Dr. Denise M. Patterson, CPA, a professor of accountancy at California State University, Fresno, was elected the 2008-09 president of the Fresno Chapter of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

She previously was vice president of the chapter, which has more than 950 members in Fresno, Kings, Tulare, Madera and Inyo counties. The statewide society is the nation’s largest state accounting organization, with more than 32,000 members.

Patterson, who joined Fresno State’s Craig School of Business faculty in 1994, received two bachelor’s degrees from Stetson University in Florida, an M.B.A. from the University of Central Florida and her Ph.D. from Georgia State University.
