“The Folk Traditions of Musa Dagh” is the topic of a program Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. sponsored by the California State University, Fresno Armenian Studies Program and Musa Dagh Compatriotic Union.

The free program featuring author Sona Simonian Zeitlian will be held at the University Business Center’s Alice Peters Auditorium.

Zeitlian was born in Cairo, Egypt and is a graduate of the American University in Cairo. Her interest has been in the formation of individual identities while reflecting on historical evolution and cultural development. She is the author, first in Armenian, then in 2006, of an expanded English edition of “Armenians in Egypt: Contribution to Medieval and Modern Egypt.” She published “The Folktales of Musa Dagh” based on the oral tradition that she recorded for the first time in Anjar, Lebanon.
