Presentations by students in courses taught during the second half of the 2009 CSU Summer Arts season are planned today, July 24, at California State University, Fresno. Each student culmination is free and open to the public.

The presentations begin at 10 a.m. with an exhibit of drawing and painting in the Conley Gallery in the Phebe Conley Art Building. A performance by dance students will be at 11 a.m. at the John Wright Theatre in the Speech Arts Building. Students in the Writing Narratives class will present their work at 1:30 p.m. at the Wahlberg Recital Hall in the Music Building.

The first of two performances by students in the Chicago-Style Comedy class will be at 4:45 p.m. at the Wright Theatre; the second is at 8:45. Musical theater will be in the spotlight at 7 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Music Building.

The performances complete the 11th straight CSU Summer Arts at Fresno State. The program was founded 24 summers ago by California State University as an opportunity for students of varied abilities to learn from master artists in the performing, musical, written and visual arts.

Integral to CSU Summer Arts is the opportunity for the host community to sample cultural arts through performances and presentations by the master teachers and for students to offer culminating events at the end of each course.
