The 32nd annual Ag Boosters Barbecue will be 4-8 p.m. Sept. 13 at Rancho Vista del Rio (Borba Ranch) in Madera. The yearly event highlights the fruit, vegetables, nuts, dairy, meat and other food products grown and processed by California State University, Fresno students.

The Ag One Foundation and the California Women for Agriculture (CWA) host this fundraising event, which has raised $656,000 over the years. Proceeds benefit students and programs in the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology at Fresno State as well as the CWA’s educational efforts.

The event includes jazz played by Fresno State students and tastings of Fresno State award-winning sausage, almonds, raisins and grapes. Fresno State wine will be served and there will be tastings of Fresno State extra-virgin olive oils – both of which are award-winners.

CWA will host a country store with handmade arts, crafts and baked goods. Also planned are live and silent auctions and a drawing vacation in Hawaii, New England, Alaska, the Canadian Rockies, Rome or Florence, Italy.

Since 1979, Ag One has provided 3,100 students with more than $2.1 million in scholarships and grants and established an endowment of more than $14 million. In the 2009-10 academic year, $200,000 will be awarded.

CWA uses funds raised by the barbecue to help tell the story of California agriculture through education and legislative programs and by awarding nearly $100,000 in scholarships annually.

Tickets are $50 per person, $450 for table of 10 if purchased by Friday, Sept. 4, and $60 per person, $550 per table, thereafter. They are available through the Ag One Foundation office at 559.278.4266 or click the link below.
