Dr. Anthony P. Radford, a baritone and music professor at California State University, Fresno, will lead the pre-opera discussion at Fresno Grand Opera performances of “Rigoletto” at the Saroyan Theatre in downtown Fresno.

His first talk, which is free with admission to opera, is at 7:05 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, and the second at 1:05 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31.

Radford will offer insights on the story, composer and historical background.

Radford joined the Fresno State music faculty in 2006. He is a frequent opera performer who has sung throughout the United States, Canada and Britain. Radford’s 2009 article on Mozart’s first Figaro, Francesco Benucci, was published in the “Journal of Singing.”
