The 17th annual Red Wave Classic junior livestock show will be Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 6-7 at the Big Fresno Fairground.

The event, presented by California State University, Fresno’s Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology students, is planned for the Livestock Pavilion at the fair ground in southeast Fresno (Butler and Chance avenues).

The show begins at 9 a.m. Feb. 6 with steer showmanship and that day’s competition concludes after the steer show at 1 p.m. The Feb. 7 schedule begins at 10 a.m. with heifer and hog showmanship, concluding after the jackpot hog classes.

A schedule of events, directions, rules, awards and entry forms are available online for the California Junior Livestock Association-sanctioned show.

The juniors — participants under the age of 21 — are primarily from throughout California with some competitors from out of state as well. Photographs of past winners and sponsors are available on the Web site.

The show sponsor is Farmers Feed of Keyes.
