Water researchers and students in California State University, Fresno’s Ag Ambassadors program are participating at the World Ag Expo in Tulare.

Guests from around the globe will sample Fresno State ice cream and other student-produced food Tuesday-Thursday, Feb. 8-10, at the world’s largest annual agricultural exposition. World Ag Expo sprawls across 2.6 million square feet of exhibit space, with more than 1,600 exhibitors and an estimated 100,000 attendees.

The International Center for Water Technology (ICWT) at Fresno State and the Irrigation Association will present several seminars, which are free with Ag Expo admission. Ten industry experts will discuss the latest irrigation technology designed to help farmers produce more food and fiber in the face of reduced irrigation water supplies.

Fresno State, in collaboration with members of the water technology industry, formed the ICWT, which is dedicated to development and application of advanced technologies that enhance water use for urban, environmental, and agricultural purposes. The goal is to provide efficient first use and effective re-use of water supplies worldwide.

A full schedule of the seminars can be found at http://www.icwt.net or contact Laura Ramos at lramos@csufresno.edu or 559.278.2066.

The Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology’s Ag Ambassadors are staffing booths at the Hilvers Career and Education Center, spaces 8001 and 8002.

From 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Feb. 9, members of Fresno State’s sprit squad will welcome visitors at the registration center. The student ambassadors actually started Feb. 5-6 at the Fresno-Yosemite International Airport, where they greeted Ag Expo participants as they arrived.

During the event, the students will staff the Fresno State booths with displays of products from the University Farm, Gibson Farm Market and Floral Lab. Ambassadors will share information about the Jordan College’s seven departments and speak with visitors about their experiences at Fresno State. There will be games for children with special Bulldog prizes.

Jordan College Associate Dean Sandra Witte will share free samples of Fresno State ice cream, made by students at the Dairy Processing Unit, with Ag-Expo visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9.
