As summer approaches, a variety of academic and athletic camps, classes and clinics designed for elementary, middle and high school students make their return to California State University, Fresno.

Children can participate in veterinary science, engineering, design and entrepreneurship programs. Sports camps in football, baseball, basketball, soccer and volleyball will prepare student-athletes for their upcoming seasons.

Summer Vet camp

Description: For students in Grades 7-9. Veterinary experts provide hands-on experiences, live animals, technology demonstrations and labs, and explain how to prepare for a career in veterinary medicine. Details: 8 a.m.-noon July 11-15; registration fee of $245 covers materials, lab supplies, take-home suture kit, stethoscope, backpack and scrub shirt; camp fills fast so registration before June 1 is recommended.

Girls Summer Engineering Experience (SEE)

Description: For girls in Grades 10-12 to learn the impact of engineering on society through hands-on activities in civil, computer, electrical, geomatics and mechanical engineering and construction management, which  are offered by Fresno State’s Lyles College of Engineering. KIDS Invent!

Description: Young Inventors full-day camp helps students in Grades K-3 learn math and science basics through making cars, rockets, masks and board games. Details: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 25-29; registration $225.

Description: Bulldog Activities and Recreational Kids (BARK) offers children ages 6-12 a chance to master new sports skills, be creative, foster new friendships and have a positive experience in a safe environment.
