The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at California State University, Fresno spearheads a relief effort from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 9, in the Free Speech Area in support of recent tornado victims in the southern U.S.

Students, faculty and staff of the MCJ department are encouraging cash donations and gift cards from Walmart or Target. Checks may be made out to the American Red Cross, which will be the beneficiary of the effort.

“There are thousands of people who have lost their homes and everything they own,” said Dr. Tamyra Pierce, chair of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism. “Several of our alumni have been affected by these storms and, perhaps, you know someone, too. Now is the time to show our ‘Bulldog Spirit’ and help everyone in need.”

For more information, please contact Pierce at 559.278.2087 or tpierce@csufresno.edu.
