The University Communications office at California State University, Fresno won nine awards and the Development Office won another in competition sponsored by the Central California chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

During the PRSA Image Awards luncheon on Friday, May 20, seven Fresno State staff members were honored for work done in 2010.

“Our staff has once again produced creative, high-quality work as we communicate about the people, programs and Campaign for Fresno State,” said Shirley Melikian Armbruster, associate vice president for University Communications.

Awards of Excellence were presented to University Communications staff for:

  • Social media campaign — designed and coordinated by social media director Katie Johnson
  • Electronic communications — Armbruster and web coordinator Kevin Medeiros for Leadership Link newsletter
  • Magazine – two awards to editor Lanny Larson for FresnoState Magazine
  • Video – a production entitled “Back to Our Future” by videographer Randy Haar
  • Speech – two awards to Armbruster

In addition, Peter Robertson of the Development Office won an Award of Excellence in the Electronic Communications category.

Awards of Merit were presented to University Communications staff for:

  • Website – Medeiros for FresnoState100.com Centennial site
  • Brochure – graphic designer Todd Graves for Fresno State Viewbook

The Image Awards program accepts entries from throughout the chapter’s service area in Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Tulare and San Luis Obispo counties. They were judged by members from the PRSA chapter in Tulsa, Okla.
