The 34th Ag Boosters Barbecue will accent produce and food products from California State University, Fresno’s hands-on agricultural programs to raise money that helps support the next generation providing food, wine and fiber.

This year’s fundraising event is scheduled 4-8 p.m. Sept. 11 at Rancho Vista del Rio (Borba Ranch) south of Madera on the banks of the San Joaquin River. Tickets are $50 per person if purchased by Sept. 2 and $60 after the deadline. Tables for ten are $450 and $550.

Guests will taste Fresno State award-winning sausage, almonds, raisins and grapes, plus samples of such popular products as Fresno State extra virgin olive oils and Fresno State wines.

California Women for Agriculture (CWA) will host a country store with handmade arts, crafts and baked goods.

Live and silent auctions will feature weekend getaways and unique items.

Over the years, the Ag Boosters Barbecue has become a harvest-time tradition for supporters and friends of Fresno State’s Ag One Foundation and the CWA, raising more than $719,000.

The beneficiaries are students and programs in the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology and the CWA for its agriculture education and legislative programs and a scholarship fund that distributes $100,000 annually to students.

Since 1979, Ag One has provided some 3,200 students with more than $2.2 million in scholarships and grants. More than $14 million is endowed with the Fresno State Foundation, which will disburse $475,000 to students during the 2011-12 academic year.

Tickets can be purchased through the Ag One Foundation office at (559) 278-4266 or online at http://www.agonefoundation.org.
