Fresno State President John D. Welty issued this message to the campus community today on the death of students and teachers in Connecticut:
Today at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, our nation has once again been thrust into unthinkable tragedy. The loss of so many young children and educators touches us deeply. On behalf of the Fresno State community, I express our condolences to those who lost loved ones and pray for the recovery of those injured.
In keeping with the order by President Obama, I have directed that the university’s United States and California flags be flown at half-staff until further notice.
