The public is invited to attend “Women, Entrepreneurship, and Diversity: A Panel Discussion,” featuring women entrepreneurs from different ethnic backgrounds, 5:30-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 23 at the Henry Madden Library, Room 2206. The program, part of the university’s Diversity Awareness Week, is co-sponsored by the Craig School of Business and the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

This event, aimed at Fresno State students and others considering entrepreneurship as a future career, the discussion will explore challenges facing women entrepreneurs with diverse backgrounds in today’s business world, and include ideas about developing successful business ideas and launching business ventures. Participants will share both challenges and methods of achieving business success. They will also offer personal advice and anecdotes about starting a business.

Panelists include: Yrma Rico, former president/co-owner of Weber BMW; Suzanne Moreno, CEO/President of Encourage Tomorrow; D. Mae Johnson, owner/Executive Director of Quality Group Homes, Inc.; Flavia Takahashi-Flores, owner of P*DE*Q; Jane Faulks, CPA/owner of Accounting America; and Management Professor Zari Karimi of Fresno State’s Craig School of Business. These powerful women represent Hispanic American, African American, Asian American, and Middle Eastern American cultures. The moderator will be Dr. Timothy M. Stearns, Executive Director/Founder of Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The evening will begin with a reception from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m., followed by the discussion from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., with questions and answers afterward.
