The Central Valley Regional Dual Language Consortium will be held from 6– 7:30 p.m. today (May 19) in Kremen Education Building, room. 316. The consortium discusses effective dual language research, practice, advising and advocacy for informed dual language policy/practice in schools pre-kindergarten through the university level. Among the reports that will be presented include the Fresno Unified School District Dual Language Immersion Program and the Early Education Dual Language (Hmong) Stone Soup Program. Nereyda Dominguez, a Fresno State student and student administrative assistant for the Bilingual and English Language Development Program, will be recognized for receiving the CSU Trustees’ Award for Outstanding Achievement and the Dean’s Medal for Kremen School of Education and Human Development. She has been instrumental in the success of the authorization to teach in either Spanish or Hmong in bilingual classrooms (BAP); specialized courses in the multiple and single subject credential programs; and a new master’s program in Multilingual and Multicultural Education.
