Three Fresno State biology professors will present their research at the 99th Annual Meeting of the Ecological Society of America Aug.10-15 in Sacramento. Dr. Madhusudan Katti, winner of this year’s Science Café Prize, will give two presentations: “Socioeconomic Drivers of Urban Forest Structure and Diversity in the Semi-arid San Joaquin Valley Of Central California” and “Communication is a Two-way Street: Ecologists Must Learn to Listen Too.” Dr. Quinn McFrederick will present, “Probing the Microbial World of Flowers: Impacts on Plants and Animals Explaining How Flowers Serve as a Hub of Transmission of Putatively Probiotic Bacteria to Wild Bees.” Dr. John Constable will present, “A Comparison of Photosynthesis and Secondary Chemistry between Helianthus Winteri and Helianthus Annuus.” The Ecological Society of America is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization of scientists founded in 1915 to promote ecological science.
