Fresno State alumni and a student contingent will lead the way when the Red Wave invades Los Angeles for Fresno State’s season-opening football game against Southern California Saturday, Aug.30.

The Fresno State Alumni Association will host the official tailgate from 1-4 p.m. at Jesse A. Brewer Park near the Los Angeles Coliseum. The game kicks off at 4:30 p.m.

Tickets for the tailgate are now available at www.fresnostatealumni.com and must be reserved by Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Fresno State Associated Students Inc. (ASI) and Fresno State’s FresWOW Weeks of Welcome committee are chartering a bus trip for students. Bus tickets can be purchased at the University Student Union information center for $50 and are limited to students only. It will cover roundtrip transportation, a meal at the alumni tailgate and a game ticket.

940 ESPN, the radio home of Fresno State Athletics, will broadcast a pregame show on location featuring special guests including Fresno State President Joseph I. Castro and his wife Mary. The Fresno State band, cheerleaders and mascot Timeout will make appearances and Fresno State fans can pose at a photo booth to document the experience.

Tickets for the alumni tailgate are $35 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under. Menu items include barbecue beef or barbecue chicken sandwiches, coleslaw, potato salad, roasted corn salad, chips, assorted cookies and brownies and one soda or bottled water for each ticket holder. There will also be a no-host bar.
