Fresno State alumnus Ryan Paul Stiner will complete his 10-day, 190-mile run from San Francisco at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Fresno State Amphitheatre. He will be greeted by clients and staff of the Autism Center at Fresno State.

They are the beneficiaries of Stiner’s mega-marathon that started at Fisherman’s Wharf on Oct. 30.

autism-runStiner’s run raised $8,410 as of 3:30 p.m. Friday, exceeding his $7,000 goal. He invites runners to join him for the final phase of the run onto campus Saturday morning.

But Stiner will actually cross two finish lines tomorrow. The first is the 12:30 p.m. homecoming finish line set up by Ryan Stiner Run-For-A-Cause co-sponsors: Fresno State’s KFSR Radio, the Collegian student newspaper and iScreen Custom Screen-printing.

At Fresno State’s football game at 7:30 p.m. Saturday against San Jose State, Stiner will jog down the south stadium ramp and cross a ceremonial finish line on the field held by two Autism Center clients during the first quarter (fourth break).

At that finish line, Stiner will be greeted by University President Joseph I. Castro and his wife Mary, who helped launch the run with an interview on her KFSR radio show, “First Lady’s Focus”. (At the afternoon finish line, Mrs. Castro will be present).

Stiner was joined for a phase of his run by Vicente Velarde, Madera High School’s assistant cross country coach, who posted on his Facebook page yesterday:

“After running 18 of 20 miles today with Ryan Paul Stiner, oh man my feet were feeling it. I can only imagine trying to go all the way from San Francisco to Fresno State! Ryan you are amazing! Finish it strong. Visit his page to donate to Fresno State’s Autism Center.”

Others have since joined Stiner on the final jaunt to Fresno State and he invites more to meet him at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

“Friends, please join me as I finish this journey off,” Stiner posted on Facebook. “I’ll be running from Woodward Park to Fresno State, where there will be a fun party! Meet me (and all the others) at the corner of Audubon and Friant at 11 a.m. We will depart at 11:30 sharp! This is a fun run. Don’t stress, no one wants to do this slower than I do! Let’s enjoy the walk/jog and have a good time. If you were a donor, I would love to thank you in person!”
