Dr. David Kirp, professor for University of California, Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy, will discuss his recent book, “Improbable Scholars: The Rebirth of a Great American School System and a Strategy for America’s Schools,” from 4-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, in the Kremen Education building (Room 140). The award-winning book tells how an urban school district brought poor Latino immigrant children, many who were undocumented, into the education mainstream. Kirp will explain what the schools did and discuss implications for public universities. The free, public lecture is co-sponsored by the College of Social Sciences, the President’s Office and the Kremen School of Education.
