Fresno State’s CineCulture and Filmworks will present a viewing of the American independent film “Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter,” at 5:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. Friday, April 10, at the Tower Theatre (815 E. Olive Ave.) in Fresno. The film, inspired by an urban legend about a lonely Japanese woman, tells the story of Kumiko, who becomes obsessed with finding a suitcase of stolen cash that was buried in a fictional movie she mistakes for a documentary. Believing the treasure to be real, Kumiko plunges herself into a wild and dangerous odyssey unlike anything she has seen in the movies. After the 5:30 show, co-director David Zellner will host a discussion about the film. Tickets are $10 for general public and $8 for students and seniors, and are available by check or cash at the Tower Theatre box office. INFO: Dr. Mary Husain, instructor and club adviser, at mhusain@csufresno.edu, or club president Tom Boroujeni at farrokh@mail.fresnostate.edu.
