Two-time Emmy Award-winning director Kirby Dick will lead a discussion following this week’s CineCulture screening of his film The Hunting Ground, a documentary that exposes the reality of rape crimes on U.S. college campuses, their institutional cover-ups and the devastating toll they take on students and their families.the-hunting-ground

The free, public screening is at 5:30 pm Friday, April 17 in the Peters Education Center Auditorium (west of Save Mart Center in the Student Recreation Center Building).

It’s part of Fresno State’s observance of the national Sexual Assault Awareness Month, created to raise public awareness about sexual violence and to educate communities on how to prevent it.

The 90-minute film features first person testimonies from survivors who are followed on their journeys as they pursue their education while fighting for justice – despite harsh retaliation, harassment and pushback at every level.

Co-sponsors for the screening include the College of Arts and Humanities, Rape Counseling Services of Fresno (RCS) and the Women’s Studies Program at Fresno State.

Campus parking is free after 4 p.m. on Fridays through Sunday night.
