The general public will get a chance tonight to meet and ask Fresno State President Joseph I. Castro questions at the first President’s Community Forum from 4:30-6 p.m. in the Leon S. and Pete P. Peters Educational Center auditorium ( 5010 N. Woodrow Ave.).

The event is part of the president’s campaign to encourage dialogue with students, staff, faculty and the public. A student forum was held Feb. 2 and employee forums were held Nov. 14 and March 10. A diversity forum was held April 30. The president, who uses social media frequently, also held a live Twitter session for students this semester.

The event begins with a reception from 4:30-5 p.m. The program, from 5-6 p.m., will open with brief remarks by Dr. Lynnette Zelezny, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, and Jim Bartko, athletics director, on the theme of academics and athletics rising together.

The remainder of the session will be open to questions for the president from the audience.

The auditorium is located in the Student Recreation Center on Woodrow Avenue, just north of Shaw Avenue.

Free parking will be available in the Save Mart Center parking lot north of the Rec Center.
