The public is invited to create an altar commemorating a deceased loved one for display at the 10th annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration Nov. 1 and 2 at the Fresno State Free Speech Area platform (between the Henry Madden Library and the Professional Human Services building). Presented by the Fresno State Aztec Dance Club, the free, public event observes the traditional Mexican holiday that celebrates the spirits of the deceased. Altar viewings will be from noon-3 p.m. Sunday, followed by presentations on health from 3-5 p.m. and music and Aztec dancing from 5:30-8 p.m. Altar visiting continues Monday, followed by a closing dance ceremony at 6:30 p.m. To create an altar, contact Rosa Madrigal at 559.348.3095.
